How to Use the Sort Priority Option for Coupons?

The Sort Priority in Cart Feature in the Advanced Coupons plugin allows you to control the order in which coupons are applied to a customer’s cart during checkout. By adjusting this setting, you can prioritize certain discounts over others, ensuring the correct application of discounts specially if there are multiple coupons that can be used.

This feature determines the order in which coupons are processed during cart total calculations. Coupons with a lower Sort Priority value are applied before those with a higher value.

By default, the Sort Priority is set to Normal (30), but you can adjust this based on your requirements.

Available Sort Priority Options

Here is the list of Sort Priority options:

  • Very High (1) – The coupon is applied first.
  • High (10)
  • Normal (30) (Default) – Standard priority for most coupons.
  • Low (50)
  • Very Low (90) – Applied last.
  • Custom – Allows you to enter a specific number for full control over sorting.

Example Usage

If you want a fixed discount coupon to apply before a percentage discount, set the fixed discount coupon to High (10) and the percentage discount to Normal (30).

Fixed Cart Discount has High priority
Percentage Discount has Normal priority

As per the screenshot below, the “less100” coupon was applied first because it has a higher priority than the “20off” coupon.

But if we reverse the coupons’ priority, making the “20off” coupon higher than “less100”, then the result will be as follows.

Fixed Cart Discount has Normal priority
Percentage Discount has High priority
