The Difference Between One-Click Apply Notifications and Auto Apply Coupons

When you set up a coupon with Advanced Coupons you can optionally choose to either have:

  1. One-Click Apply Notifications; OR
  2. Auto Apply Coupon

The difference between these is subtle.

Both of these settings are about removing some of the work for the customer.

The One-Click Apply Notification tests the Cart Conditions that you set in the Cart Conditions tab and if it finds they are true, it will prompt the customer with a WooCommerce notice on the Cart/Checkout page.

The notification has a button included which the customer can click to apply the coupon automatically without manually entering the coupon code.

The Auto Apply feature works in a similar way, it also tests the Cart Conditions that you set in the Cart Conditions tab and if it finds they are true, it will attempt to automatically apply the coupon.

This video will show you exactly how to use the two features and explains the difference more clearly.

The main thing to keep in mind with either of these features is the need to set your Cart Conditions on the coupon first because these features check if they are true or not. If there are no conditions set, it will assume that its true and is OK to proceed with the action (ie. show the notification or attempt to auto apply).
